One of the staff of China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC) has said the temporary re-opened of Karu Site road will be closed again around 9 am on Monday.

In a conversation with the members of the company’s staff on the road reconstruction site on Sunday evening, they confirmed that the road will be closed again Monday morning.

They also warned that for those who want to leave for office should do so early enough for them to escape the potential gridlock that will occur Monday morning.

The residents of Karu-Jikwoyi environ witness terrific gridlock on Saturday for few hours the road was closed, which made many residents wonder what Monday morning will look like with the closure of the road.

Recall that the road was reopened Saturday afternoon after it was earlier closed around 8:42 am on the same day.

Reconstructing this road is overdue says Tony Yakubu, a resident of Karu. He says the way Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) is going about it is not the best because no any alternative route for Karu residents.

There is a need for an alternative road in order to reduce the stress this reconstruction will cause, says Nwachukwu Anene; another Karu resident for more than a decade.

Satellite Towns Development Department had last week made public announcement about the diversion of the taking effect on 31st August 2018, and asked people coming from Karishi, Orozo, Kurudu, Jikwoyi and Karu Site to the city centre to take through Karu Market to Nyanya overhead bridge and people coming from the city centre are to take through Nyanya.

The Director of the Department, Mr Yamawo Tank, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday, said the work would begin on Friday and be completed by September ending.

Tanko said that on completion of the work, traffic congestion would be eliminated and the city centre easily accessible.

“The Satellite Towns Development Department regrets any inconveniences which the closure might cause motorists in the affected areas,” he said.
